Lake County Students Explore Exciting Tech Careers

Full Sail University recently hosted Lake County High School High Tech students for a tour of its cutting-edge programs in film, video game design, audio production, cybersecurity and more. This was a great opportunity for the students to discover there are many places for individuals with disabilities in these exciting fields.

Orange Tech Hosts HSHT Doghouse Building Competition

Orange County High School High Tech students faced off in teams to see who could build the best doghouse in a competition held at Orange Technical College East Campus. Adult students at Orange Tech pre-cut all the pieces from materials donated by DPR Construction, and provided hands-on assistance as needed. The students also learned about PPE and OSHA safety rules and careers in the trades.

Lake County Students Learn Key Lifesaving Skills

Students in the Lake County High School High Tech program received official CPR compression training at East Ridge High School. The students had a great experience learning important lifesaving techniques from the certified nurse’s assistants who provided the tutorials.

Students Get Animated with Full Sail U's 3D Art Program

A presenter from Full Sail University helped Lake County High School High Tech students learn to design, create, and bring characters to life in three-dimensional art form. The presenter also provided students with information about the university’s program offerings.

Meet Zach

In just his first year of participating in Orange County’s High School High Tech program, Zach M. made an enormous impact. He quickly emerged as a leader among his peers thanks to his high energy, positive outlook and strong commitment to learning.

The program likewise had a major impact on Zach, as his time in High School High Tech helped him make connections and develop key soft skills that will help him in his next educational steps and future career. The recent Timber Creek High School graduate is pursuing his dream job of being a firefighter at Valencia College’s Fire Academy.

The Able Trust Youth Programs

In Florida, the gaps in high school graduation and postsecondary enrollment are being closed through The Able Trust’s youth programs. Using a research-based foundation, we have been supporting students with disabilities for 30 years.  
 
Through High School High Tech and Futures in Focus, students receive
  • school-based preparatory experiences,
  • career preparation and work-based learning,
  • connecting activities, and
  • youth leadership and development activities.
