On-Line Resume Bank Now Available for Persons with Disabilities

(Tallahassee, FL) The Able Trust, also known as the Florida Governor's Alliance for the Employment of Disabled Citizens, has launched Phase II of Abilities On-Line, an Internet job bank for people with disabilities. Phase II enables Florida citizens with disabilities to post their resume on the website free of charge, while allowing employers to search these resumes for candidates meeting their employment needs. The Abilities On-Line job bank is located at http://abilityforum.com directly or via The Able Trust website at http://www.abletrust.org.

Job seekers with disabilities will be given a registration password by The Able Trust that will enable them to access the job bank. Upon entering the site, they may complete the on-line resume with information about their employment history, education, honors, activities and certificates, along with other relevant employment information. Job seekers may then link their on-line resume to employer job postings that have provided an email address.

Employers are asked to complete brief registration information upon entering the Abilities On-Line website. Once registered, the computer will assign them a UserID that will allow them unlimited access to search resumes or post job openings at no cost.

Job seeker registration passwords are distributed by The Able Trust or an agency that is affiliated with the Trust. For more information on how to register or affiliate with The Able Trust, call Jon Rosa at (888) 838-2253 or email him at jonathan@abletrust.org.

Abilities On-Line was developed with the support of the Florida Business Leadership Network, a voluntary business coalition dedicated to improving business opportunities that include people with disabilities. "Many employers are interested in hiring people with disabilities but they don't know how to find them, since many of these individuals do not respond to their traditional recruiting methods." said Denis McKinnon, President of First Union Bank of Florida and Chair of The Able Trust/FGA Business Leadership Network. "Our goal with Abilities On-Line is to provide those employers with the resources they need to recruit a workforce that consists of qualified people with disabilities from around the state." Employers interested in joining the free network should call The Able Trust at (888) 838-2253 or email kristen@abletrust.org.

The Able Trust, also known as the Florida Governor's Alliance for the Employment of Disabled Citizens, is a 501(c)(3) public-private partnership foundation established by the Florida Legislature in 1990. Its purpose is to provide support for the employment of Florida citizens with disabilities and to promote public awareness about the vocational rehabilitation process. Since its establishment, The Able Trust/FGA has granted over $6.3 million to individuals with disabilities and nonprofit agencies in Florida for employment-related purposes.
