The Able Trust is honored to announce the Honorary Chair of Florida Disability Mentoring Day - Florida Governor Charlie Crist. With the help of Governor Crist, this fall The Able Trust and the Florida Statewide Planning Committee, in partnership with the American Association of People with Disabilities, will host the 2007 National Disability Mentoring Day (DMD) kick-off celebration and career fair.
The 2007 DMD kick-off celebration and career fair will take place on Monday, September 24, 2007 at the Lake Buena Vista Palace located in Orlando.
"Participating as a mentor is a highly rewarding experience. It provides Floridians the opportunity to gain insight into the lives of those with disabilities while encouraging professional and academic growth among the disabled population," said Governor Crist.

DMD is a nationally coordinated job shadowing event that pairs students and job seekers with disabilities with professionals that serve in careers that interest them. The DMD kick-off celebration and career fair event will take place from 10:00 a.m. to 4:30 p.m. and will welcome more than 600 Florida high school and college students and national employers and career speakers from across the nation.
The event is free to all participants who pre-register. Featured session topics will include: "High Tech Jobs of the Future;" "Building a Budget and Financial Planning for Your Future", a discussion about disclosing a disability to an employer, as well as, hands-on interview tips and resume reviews. Represented employers will include IBM Corp.; Best Buy; SunTrust Bank; the Office of Disability Employment Policy and many more.
