With the summer right around the corner, The Able Trust is proud to announce that the 2007 Youth Leadership Forum (YLF) delegates have been selected. The Able Trust has selected over 50 delegates to attend the eighth annual YLF, scheduled July 19-22, 2007 in Tallahassee. Selected delegates reflect a diverse group of disability, gender, geographic location and ethnicities. The YLF, co-sponsored by The Able Trust and the Florida Developmental Disabilities Council is an exclusive career and leadership enrichment forum for students with disabilities throughout the state of Florida. This four-day conference will feature interactive workshops focused on career development, community and individual leadership, disability awareness and self advocacy.
Students will also have the opportunity to meet community leaders with disabilities, business professionals and government dignitaries from various cities and counties throughout the state of Florida.
The eighth annual YLF will also feature Able Trust Ambassador, Dr. Sheila Buchbinder as the keynote speaker for the ever-popular, Mentor's Luncheon. As a board certified Obstetrician-Gynecologist and recipient of the American Woman's Medical Association and Lang Medical Publication awards for outstanding achievement in the medical industry, Dr. Buchbinder will offer students an empowering message of achieving success despite the odds.
After a disabling accident, Dr. Buchbinder persevered to successfully teach and publish articles focused on laparoscopic surgery. In addition, Dr. Buchbinder has established a medical technologies company, which has promoted new devices for the last 20 years.
