The Employer Assistance and Recruiting Network (EARN) is a nationwide, cost-free recruitment service connecting employers with workforce talent sponsored by U.S. Department of Labor’s Office of Disability Employment Policy. In EARN’s ongoing efforts to improve its services, the website has been redesigned to be more interactive. EARN now offers a new Extranet, which is an extensive database allowing members to directly post, view and search jobs.
Employers currently signed up with EARN can now go to the Extranet to post their jobs. Professionals working with job seekers with disabilities that are signed up with EARN can use the Extranet to search job postings by occupation type and location.
Users must be signed up with EARN to access these new features. If you are not already signed up with EARN, please visit http://members.earnworks.com. For more information on the Extranet or EARN, e-mail earn@earnworks.com or call toll-free 1.866.327.6669.
The Able Trust welcomes Sally Whittaker, MS, as the new e-Mentoring Coordinator. Because of the e-Mentoring program’s growth, Whittaker will be assisting in the administration, supervision and evaluation of the program.
E-Mentoring provides a unique opportunity for students with disabilities to receive career-based mentoring through e-mail correspondence. The process is simple. After filling out an application and completing the screening process, a student with a disability will be matched with a caring adult who works in a career field of interest to the student. Mentees and mentors will be given a secure e-mail address for weekly e-mail correspondence. Mentoring sessions will be monitored for the safety of everyone involved.
For more information about The Able Trust’s e-Mentoring Program or to sign up to be an e-mentee or e-mentor, visit the website at www.abletrust.org/ementor or contact Sally Whittaker at sally@abletrust.org.
