Florida Mentoring Partnership

Kristen Knapp, APR, Vice President of Public Relations for The Able Trust, has been asked to serve as a founding member of The Florida Mentoring Partnership Advocacy Council. The Florida Mentoring Partnership, in keeping with the state’s pledge to America’s Promise, helps students excel in school and life by recruiting Floridians to become mentors. This partnership, which began as the Governor’s Mentoring Initiative in 1999, promotes collaboration among state agencies, municipalities, businesses, nonprofit organizations, individuals and schools.

Free Employer Seminars

The Employer Assistance Recruitment Network (EARN) is hosting employer-focused seminars on connecting employers with workforce talent; presentations to business associations and civic groups; and meetings with leading decision makers from top companies in ten cities. The cities were selected based on the Bureau of Labor Statistics, which projects the worker pool in that area will not be sufficiently large enough to meet the demand for qualified workers. EARN is visiting those cities to raise public awareness about employing people with disabilities. EARN will be in Tampa, FL on May 5, 2005. For more information on EARN seminars and to register to attend, visit www.earnworks.com or call EARN at 1.866.EARN.NOW.

Award of Service

Bob Bromberg received an Award of Service at The Able Trust’s Ability Awards ceremony on March 11. Bromberg is an inaugural Ambassador to The Able Trust. He is president and founder of Bromberg & Associates, a Miami-based consulting firm specializing in human resource solutions to management.

Bromberg is active in his community, volunteering for organizations including Goodwill Industries of South Florida, United Way of Miami-Dade County, March of Dimes and Miami Jackson High School Mentor program. For The Able Trust, Bromberg regularly represents the Foundation at check presentations and grant site visits. He has also attended events and made presentations on The Able Trust’s behalf. Bromberg also contributes his time to the Florida Business Leadership Network (BLN), where he serves on the Statewide Steering Committee and is founding chair of the Miami-Dade BLN. He is currently concentrating efforts on fundraising, expanding membership and developing a public awareness campaign for the Miami-Dade BLN.
