The Able Trust has several exciting announcements to kick off the New Year. We recently launched the e-Mentoring program, giving high school students with disabilities the opportunity to communicate with a business mentor via e-mail year round. E-Mentoring is now one of four youth programs managed by The Able Trust, which works to transition youth with disabilities into adulthood.
Because of the aftermath of Hurricane Wilma, The Able Trust has rescheduled the eighth annual gala at Mar-a-Lago for March 25, 2006. The “Mojitos at Midnight” Gala will be an exquisite black-tie affair where all the proceeds will go to The Able Trust Endowment to benefit Floridians with disabilities.
During the “Mojitos at Midnight” Gala, The Able Trust will reveal the inaugural recipient of the “Dr. George L. Spelios Leadership Award.” This distinguished award will go to a deserving Florida 501 (c)(3) disability organization executive for his or her outstanding leadership and advocacy for Florida citizens with disabilities. I invite you to join us in Palm Beach as we present this award in honor of Dr. Spelios.

The Foundation would also like to recognize our recently named board member, Jason Havens of Destin, and ambassador, Sharlyn Lauby of Fort Lauderdale, who now serve as volunteers for The Able Trust. Both of these individuals are continuously working toward the inclusion of people with disabilities in the workplace. It is truly a pleasure to have these two outstanding advocates join The Able Trust.
We are looking forward to working with you in the coming year to continue making strides towards advancing the employment of people with disabilities. I wish you and your family a safe and happy holiday season.
