Endowment News

The past few months have been very active for the endowment department. I have had the pleasure of working with and educating a number of people about our endowment program. More often than not, I am asked the same questions when it comes to helping The Able Trust’s mission, so I would like to share some of these Frequently Asked Questions with you.

If you would like further information, don’t forget to visit our planned giving website at www.myabletrust.org. Or feel free to contact me at 888.838.2253 ext. 231 or mike@abletrust.org, and I would be happy to answer your questions in detail.

Q: Why give to The Able Trust instead of a local charity?

A: By giving to The Able Trust, you can still support your favorite local charity while working with a knowledgeable staff that has the expertise to handle the transaction, maintain the funds and make sure your gift goes to the charitable purpose you intended.

Q: Can a specific organization or cause be designated for the gift?

A: Yes, as long as the organization or cause supports Florida citizens with disabilities.

Q: Who manages the funds?

A: The Able Trust has different financial firms that handle the funds based on the Foundation’s investment policy. Because The Able Trust is statewide and has a larger endowment than most local agencies, we can negotiate lower investment fees and administration costs.

Q: What will The Able Trust accept as a gift?

A: Gifting can include cash, stocks & bonds, real estate, personal property and wills & bequests. Our endowment department will work with you to help you decide the best option to meet your needs.

Q: Can income be received from my gift?

A: In some cases, yes, depending on the gift. Our endowment department has the tools to illustrate what income can be received from a gift.

Q: Does The Able Trust work with Attorneys, CPAs and/or Financial Advisors?

A: Absolutely. Because of our expertise and resources, we work with a variety of professionals throughout the process. We can also refer you to an attorney and work with them through the process.

Q: Who handles planned giving at The Able Trust?

A: Our endowment department has over twenty-three years of combined financial and endowment experience. We work with clients throughout the planning process, from beginning to end.
