The Able Trust Welcomes New Staff
The Able Trust is pleased to welcome Abby Cruz to the staff.
Abby will serve as Special Events Coordinator and is responsible for assisting
with planning and implementing the Foundation’s special events, including
the Youth Leadership Forum, Symposium on Disabilities and annual Gala at Mar-a-Lago.
She will also help coordinate media relations, develop promotional materials

FARF Launches New Website
The Florida Association of Rehabilitation Facilities (FARF) has launched a new
and improved version of their website. The site now gives visitors quick access
to breaking news on workforce and disability issues, legal advocacy, upcoming

Program To Offer Providers Employment Support
The Florida Outcome Improvement Project (FOIP) assists community rehabilitation
providers in the improvement of their organizational outcomes and effectiveness
with an emphasis on employment and community integration. This network of agencies
will be supported through consortium of training and technical assistance providers,
as well as mentorship by other network providers.
FOIP will provide training and technical assistance in the areas of strategic planning, marketing, goal setting strategies, customer service, organizational design and focus group facilitation for nonprofit agencies. Additionally, the project will provide training on job coaching, job development, self determination and community integration.
Funded by a grant from The Able Trust, FOIP is a consortium of the CARD Centers at the University of South Florida, UT-TIE University of Tennessee and the Center on Vocational Leadership at Georgia State University.

Orlando Hosts World Congress & Exposition on Disabilities
The World Congress on Disabilities features workshops and exhibitors that address
a variety of topics and supplies for people with disabilities, family members,
educators and others. This year’s event will be held at the Orange County
Convention Center in Orlando, Florida, from September 18-20, 2003. An Employment
Symposium, hosted by the Division of Vocational Rehabilitation, will feature
workshops for employers and service providers that address employment issues
for people with disabilities. In addition, a job fair sponsored by Hire disAbility

National Conference Will Focus on Adults with Learning Needs
The National Association for Adults with Special Learning Needs (NAASLN), in
partnership with The Able Trust, will host a national conference from March
7 through 9, 2004, at the Wyndham Harbor Island Hotel in Tampa.
“Embracing Dialogue for Improved Services” is the theme for this event which will offer over sixty sessions that will address practical ways to serve adults with special learning needs, as well as up-to-date information on state and national initiatives. NAASLN is seeking conference presenters, attendees, partners or exhibitors at this time.
