Summer marked another end to The Able Trust’s fiscal year, where over $2 million in grants were awarded to more than fifty nonprofits throughout the state. The Foundation plans to keep this momentum going through the fall, where we will review and award funding to another set of projects that lead to employment for Floridians with disabilities.
The fall will also give the Board of Directors an opportunity to outline a long-term plan during its strategic retreat. Many new activities have been brought to the table already this year, and the retreat gives the Board and the Staff a chance to develop a plan to ensure their success.
These include the new Bikers Care tag, the motorcycle specialty tag that will raise funds for the Foundation, as well as three statewide disability organizations. Thanks to Representative Larry Cretul, Senator Steve Wise and ABATE Florida, the tag will generate hundreds of thousands of dollars to improve the quality of life for Floridians with disabilities.
The Able Trust is also collaborating with several disability organizations to host a statewide conference in early 2004, and the focus on employment will serve to educate employers, service providers and consumers.
In the meantime, we want to ensure that we are continuing to meet your needs through all aspects of our programs, communications and fundraising efforts. Be sure to visit www.abletrust.org regularly to stay informed, and please send us your feedback as we plan for the year ahead.
