The Able Trust recently awarded over $212,607 in grants to six nonprofit agencies across the State of Florida to assist with the employment of people with disabilities. These agencies received funding for the following programs. ARC Sunrise (Lake County), $32,100 to provide supported employment services to individuals with disabilities; Center for Independent Living of North Florida (Leon County), $35,000 to provide employment services including job placement and follow along services to individuals with disabilities; Charter School at National Deaf Academy, (Lake County), $66,421 to support an educational and vocational program for students who are deaf to learn employability skills; Florida School for the Deaf and Blind, (St. Johns County and Statewide), $33,086 to support a work experience program providing deaf students with on-the-job skills training with a Job Coach; I Can Grow Inc., (Jackson, Bay & Washington Counties), $30,000 to support an operational farm base, on-the-job training and career development opportunities for individuals with developmental disabilities in Agriculture, Horticulture, Aquaculture; and Sales/Marketing, and Livestock/Animal Husbandry; and Mental Health Community Centers, Inc., (Sarasota County), $12,000 to provide support for Project Jobs, an employment program for individuals with mental illness.
