Spring always breezes in with renewed hope, growth and excitement all across the state. In south Florida we are seeing the bustle of snowbirds enjoying the warmth and sunshine. Florida's capital city is currently witnessing the hustle of people in town for the 2003 Session. The spring winds of change have also brought new staff and projects for The Able Trust. The addition of our new Vice President of Endowment Development, Barry Ward, is exciting news for our friends in the disability community. Barry will bring a refreshing wealth of knowledge and enthusiasm, and we look forward to his success.

This spring the board of directors also held its quarterly meeting, where we had the pleasure of awarding over $400,000 in grants to a number of innovative projects that will employ people with disabilities. The dedication and commitment of our board is amazing, and we thank them for the valuable role they play in the success of the Foundation's grants program.

This time of year also buzzes with preparation for events to come. The Able Trust staff is working hard to prepare for a successful Youth Leadership Forum in July and annual Gala in November. Sponsors for both activities are still being sought, so The Able Trust can serve more individuals and expand its funding opportunities.
