Message from the Chair

The new fiscal year is in full swing, and The Able Trust has already been bustling with activity in these first few months.

Recently the Board of Directors held its strategic planning retreat to outline a long-term plan for the Foundation. The Trust will continue on its path of increasing its grant awards, promoting the benefits of employing people with disabilities and raising funds for its endowment program. Many of these activities are accomplished through the The Able Trust's annual gala, which was recently held in Palm Beach. The South Seas Shangri-La Gala raised $200,000 for The Able Trust endowment, which will enable us to provide perpetual funding to the agencies and individuals we serve. In our sixth year, we were thrilled to see so many new and familiar faces to come out to the event and celebrate the abilities of Florida citizens with disabilities. We appreciate all the support of our sponsors and guests in helping to make the event a success!

With the calendar year coming to a close, our staff is making preparations for the many spring activities we have planned, including our annual Ability Awards and educational workshops for disability service providers and employers alike.

The end of the year is also a time when our development director can help you consider the tax advantages of a contribution to The Able Trust.
