The Able Trust Legacy Society
By Barry K. Ward
Vice President of Endowment Development

Through the Legacy Society, individuals who have created charitable plans to support The Able Trust are recognized for their generosity and commitment to enhance the lives of Floridians with disabilities. While the form of these gifts differ - ranging from bequests to charitable remainder trusts and other gift strategies - the result is the same: providing for the future needs of Florida's citizens with disabilities.

The Able Trust addresses and supports programs and projects to help Floridians with disabilities find employment. In 2002 we awarded over $1.5 million in grants, and together with our programs were able to assist over 2,000 individuals with disabilities with obtaining employment.

Membership in the Legacy Society will be recognized in the Foundation's annual report as well as at periodic events hosted in their honor. The Endowment Development staff are available to Legacy Society members and their financial advisors to discuss estate and gift planning questions and issues.

If you would like to learn more about The Able Trust's Legacy Society and how you can become involved, please contact Barry K. Ward, Vice President of Endowment Development at 888.838-2253, Ext. 231, or barry@abletrust.org.

Changes to Able Trust Website Coming Soon
The Able Trust is working on a new and improved version of the Planned Giving section on its website.

The updated section will include expanded information on charitable remainder trusts, gift annuities and the Legacy Society. In addition, the site will feature examples on how to give to the Foundation and receive tax credits while doing so, as well as up-to-date GiftLaw information for financial advisors and donors.

Users will also find a direct giving opportunity through credit card donations to The Able Trust Friends Program. The Friends Program enables donors to give today to benefit a specific Able Trust program that supports Floridians with disabilities, while receiving recognition in Foundation publications and promotional efforts.

The Planned Giving section should be complete by January 2004, so be sure to visit the site at www.abletrust.org for exciting details coming soon.
