The Able Trust rang in 2002 with much to celebrate. This year marks the 10th anniversary of grant making for the Foundation, and we are pleased to announce that we have awarded over $10 million to nonprofit agencies and individuals with disabilities. This accomplishment is being celebrated through a number of special events and activities throughout the year, and we hope you will join us when we are in your areas.
In addition to grant making, The Able Trust continues to see its programs grow with the help of collaborations and partnerships. Most recently we partnered with Delaware North Parks to enable 200 High School/High Tech students to visit the Kennedy Space Center Visitor Complex. Project Interact provides these students with an opportunity to meet with astronauts, take guided tours and participate in hands-on learning exercises. This type of partnership is valuable to the growth of our programs, which will ultimately lead to employment opportunities for people with disabilities.
In the coming months, The Able Trust will be exploring other collaborative efforts to continue advancing our mission. Visit our website at www.abletrust.org regularly to find out what's new at the Foundation.
In the meantime, we encourage you to keep in touch and let our staff know how we can continue serving you and the citizens of Florida to help people with disabilities lead productive, independent lives.
