On October 16, over 75 students with disabilities took part in Disability Mentoring Day around the state. The Able Trust sponsored the event to help students achieve an introduction into the workplace. Fourteen cities hosted DMD activities under the direction of the Trust's High School/High Tech projects.
Employers, including BLN members SunTrust Bank and HealthSouth, mentored students and provided job shadowing activities.
DMD was held in honor of October's designation as National Disability Employment Awareness Month, and The Able Trust hopes to expand the program even more in 2003.
