While most of us think of summer as a time to lay back and enjoy the longer days and days at the beach, The Able Trust is spending its time planning events and preparing for an envisioned, very productive fiscal year 2002.
Fifty-five high school students with all types of disabilities came to Tallahassee to learn about leadership during our second annual Youth Leadership Forum and more are anticipated next July. Thanks to our sponsors and friends, high school students returned home motivated, educated and inspired. It is always rejuvenating to see these youth come together to share ideas and enthusiasm about their futures and the future of the disability community.
Planning has been finalized for our Symposium to be held September 11-14 in St. Petersburg, which is an excellent opportunity for all who work and participate in disability issues to come together and learn new techniques, concepts, best practices, new ideas and just to connect with old friends and associates again.
The Able Trust is also making plans for the Legislative Session, which begins in January this year. The longer session presents an opportunity to educate more new Legislators about The Able Trust, its grant program and other activities.
As summer languishes, we hope to see you at the Symposium in September, with refreshed spirits and an opportunity to honor those outstanding agencies, individuals and companies for service to the disability community.
