Message from the Chair

A full fiscal year has passed since nine volunteers were appointed by Governor Bush to serve as The Able Trust Board of Directors, and I am proud of the many accomplishments we have seen in such a short time.

During that time the Board held a successful strategic planning session, enhancing our mission statement to better define our goals and purpose. We developed several new initiatives and built upon existing ones that will ultimately lead to more people with disabilities entering the workforce. These include our Association Grant Initiative, a regionalized approach to our Business Leadership Network, an incredible fundraising Gala at Mar-a-Lago, and the most recent success of the Florida Youth Leadership Forum.

We also restructured several aspects of the grants program that will provide a better understanding of the process and ultimately lead to an increase in proposals. As we enter this new fiscal year, we look forward to continue refining these programs and initiatives, so that we can ensure that every Floridian with a disability has an equal opportunity to work. In the meantime, we welcome your input and support as we strive to achieve our mission.
