The 2001 VSA arts International Conference and Community Events, LINKING AND LEVERAGING: ARTS, DISABILITY, AND COMMUNITY, will be held May 9-12, 2001, in St. Petersburg, Florida.
In addition to celebrating the VSA arts of Florida affiliate's 20th anniversary, the conference will explore creative strategies for new and existing art programs for people with disabilities. This is also the first year that community events have been included in the national conference agenda. These events will engage participants in direct skill-building exercises in cultural and artistic venues throughout the St. Petersburg area. The public is invited to attend many planned community events.
This year's conference is presented by VSA arts and VSA arts of Florida in partnership with the University of South Florida, and the city of St. Petersburg.
A special registration fee of $25 is available to Florida residents who wish to attend a single day of the conference. Continuing education credit is available through the University of South Florida. The Hilton St. Petersburg is offering special rates for attendees. Many events are open to the public and free of charge.
