The Able Trust recently hired three new staff members to assist in the areas of special events, grants and endowment.
Audra Peoples was hired as Special Events Coordinator. She will assist with special event planning, media relations and other promotional activities for the Foundation. Belinda Nava was hired as Secretary. She will serve as the front-office receptionist and assist with grant program activities. Bob Content was hired as the administrative assistant to Tom Norman, in which he will assist with various duties related to the Endowment Program.
The ELA Foundation is announcing their annual scholarship for women with disabilities who are pursuing a graduate degree at any college or university in the United States.
The Foundation will be awarding two scholarships worth $2000 in August, 2001. Scholarship money is contingent upon the winner's acceptance to or continuation in an accredited college or university graduate school program and will be payable to the educational institution for tuition.

Bank of America in Charlotte recently announced that it has installed Florida's first talking ATMs in nine cities across the state. The Florida cities to receive the talking ATMs first are Cocoa Beach, Coconut Creek, Fort Lauderdale, Jacksonville, Miami, Ocala, Orlando, St. Petersburg and Tampa. The talking ATMs provide audible instructions to persons who cannot view information on an ATM machine, making it easier for persons with visual impairments to withdraw cash, deposit money and perform other ATM transactions. The ATMs have audio jacks that deliver spoken instructions privately to protect the security of these users.
The Florida Disabled Outdoors Association is proud to announce Tallahassee's eighth annual SPORTSABILITY 2001 on Friday, May 4th at Tallahassee Community College and Saturday May 5th at Ochlockonee State Park.
There is no charge for this two-day program that targets people with disabilities, their family and friends, as well as disability service providers. The event is hosted jointly by the Center for Independent Living of North Florida, Tallahassee Community College, and HealthSouth Rehabilitation Hospital.
Friday, May 4, features the Recreation and Resource Expo, scheduled from 10 a.m. until 3 p.m. at the Tallahassee Community College, Eagle Dome. The Expo will focus on indoor sports, clinics and demonstrations, as well as disability product exhibits. A luncheon program will feature keynote speaker Ann O'Brine, world champion sit-down water skier.
Outdoor activities will take place on Saturday, May 5, from 10 a.m. to 3 p.m. at the Ochlockonee State Park in Wakulla County. Activities include pontoon boat rides and sit down water skiing, as well as land activities.
