Spring has started in the Capitol City with a buzz of activity. The legislative session is in full swing, and a number of organizations have already held events to promote the disability community on the "Hill." In addition to supporting our agency friends, The Able Trust continues to monitor session activities and will provide a full report of the results during our Symposium on Disabilities.
The Symposium will also cover important issues about Ticket to Work, transportation and technology. In addition, we will host workshops about grant writing and funding sources, including an overview of the Trust's grants program. You will soon see enhancements to both the agency and individual sections of our grant booklet, so we encourage you to join us in St. Petersburg in September to learn more about submitting your proposal.
Other Foundation activities for the coming year will offer opportunities for The Able Trust to reach out to Floridians with disabilities of all ages. Plans for the second annual YLF are underway with forty-two delegates chosen to represent their communities around Florida. High School-High Tech continues to flourish, with six projects now underway.
Another successful quarter of grant making has brought employment programs to several new cities. Proposals are now being accepted for the next grant cycle, and we encourage you to call or email us with questions if you have an idea for a project.
In the meantime, we look forward to keeping you informed about our efforts to continue assisting Floridians with disabilities with gaining meaningful employment. Look for updates on our website and in other correspondence in the months to come.
