The Able Trust will host its fourth Symposium on Disabilities from September 11 - 14, 2001 at the St. Petersburg Hilton. The event features educational workshops, disability vendors, a keynote luncheon, general sessions and the 2001 Ability Awards Banquet. Workshops will cover topics in the areas of technology, funding, youth programs, advocacy, employment, transportation, development, legislative trends, quality of life and cultural diversity. Nonprofit agency representatives, vocational rehabilitation counselors and other disability service providers are encouraged to attend.
Special guest speakers include Ms. Deon Locklin of the Georgia State University Program for Rehabilitation Leadership and Mr. Ed Griffin of the Commission for Transportation Disadvantaged. Henry Holden, actor and motivational speaker, will provide a humorous look at the misconceptions of disability in the media during the Ability Awards Banquet. Registration includes the welcome reception, all breakout and general sessions, keynote luncheon and the Ability Awards Banquet. Fees are $75 per person for the full conference or $50 per day.
