With the new fiscal year in full swing, The Able Trust is planning for the many activities in the months ahead. We cannot move on, however, without first reflecting on the success of our first-ever Youth Leadership Forum, which brought twenty-seven students with disabilities to Tallahassee to learn about career, academic and leadership development. The YLF helped to foster leaders among these young adults - leaders who were enthused about going back to their communities and sharing their experiences with their peers so the network will continue to grow.
The new fiscal year brings more opportunities for growth at the foundation. Our programs such as High School High Tech are flourishing, with three new sites in Florida getting into full swing. Our grants program continues to grow, and we are working with the Board to enhance the program in the coming months.
In addition, we are gearing up for the annual gala at Mar-a-Lago, which raises funds for The Able Trust Endowment and its affiliate agencies. This year's theme is "A Journey to Morocco," and the event is sure to be bigger and better than in years past.
As a reminder, don't forget to nominate an individual or organization for The Able Trust's Ability Awards. Agencies with outstanding job placement programs, entrepreneurs with disabilities, employers and media professionals are all eligible to receive an award. The awards ceremony will take place on Thursday, October 5, in Tampa and we encourage you to join us for the celebration.
We hope to hear from you in the coming months as we embark on another year of anticipated success.
