News

The Florida Grantor, Fall 2000

President's Message

Sharon Griffith, President & CEO

Recently The Able Trust held a successful strategic planning session with its Board of Directors, generating an exciting list of goals and objectives for the upcoming year. As you can see from page one of this newsletter, The Able Trust has revamped its mission statement to incorporate additional factors of our enabling legislation, particularly fundraising and public awareness.

In addition, we have exciting plans to enhance our youth programs as well as our Business Leadership Network, which you'll be reading about in the months to come. We will also be updating aspects of our grants program based on results of several focus groups held with agency representatives this fall. We appreciate the input of each of you as we continue growing the Foundation and hope you will continue providing us feedback on these programs.

The coming year will offer new opportunities for us to interact with many of you. In April, The Able Trust/FGA will host the National Association of Governor's Committee's Annual Training Conference in Orlando, bringing together state liaisons to the President's Committee to discuss national disability policies and trends. In the fall, The Able Trust will bring back the Symposium on Disabilities, which will take place in St. Petersburg from September 11 - 14. This is a valuable networking and information sharing opportunity for those serving the disability community, and we hope you will join us.

We will be sure to keep you informed of these activities as plans progress. In the meantime, we hope you enjoy happy holidays and look forward to seeing you in the new year.
