The Able Trust has completed another series of successful events to help celebrate October as Disability Employment Awareness Month (DEAM). The festivities included our annual Ability Awards celebration, which recognized representatives from a nonprofit agency, employer and media outlet, as well as an entrepreneur with a disability. Together these award recipients embody the spirit of what The Able Trust strives for - successful employment for Floridians with disabilities.
Our Business Leadership Network (BLN) also took an active role in celebrating DEAM by hosting an employer workshop and making presentations to over 150 human resource professionals throughout Florida. Special thanks to HealthSouth of Largo for sponsoring the workshop and to Vinece Pastor, our current BLN Chair, who made several presentations on behalf of the BLN.
The month culminated with our annual gala at The Mar-a-Lago Club in Palm Beach. This "Journey to Morocco" was truly an event to remember. Over 350 guests came together to help celebrate the mission of The Able Trust , raising over $289,000 for our endowment program, including our fourteen participating agencies. We want to thank our many sponsors and supporters for their help in making the event a success and look forward to continuing our partnership in the months to come.
As we prepare for the end of this calendar year, we hope each of you will keep us informed of your success stories so that we may share them with our Friends throughout the state. Working together is the best way to continue building the bridge that will lead all our citizens with disabilities to independence.
