Guerlain, Paris Helps Kickoff Mardi Gras Gala

The Able Trust launched the 1999 season in Palm Beach with an exquisite evening at The Breakers. On Thursday, March 11, over 100 attendees joined The Able Trust Mardi Gras Co-Chairs Florence Bonsuk of Cartier and Bob Kuechenberg of the 1972 Undefeated Miami Dolphins at a Champagne Reception. The exciting reception was hosted and sponsored by Guerlain, Paris at The Breakers and graciously emceed by Pat Murphy, Sports Anchor for WPEC TV-12. The event honored The Able Trust Co-Chairs, announced Mr. Donald Trump as the Honorary Chair, and unveiled plans for the upcoming Mardi Gras at Mar-a-Lago Gala set for Saturday, October 30, 1999.

Guests enjoyed the festive sounds of a flamenco guitarist while tasting fine champagne and hors d'oeuvres, all perfectly staged in the beautiful Palm Court of The Breakers Hotel. Guerlain, Paris treated guests to fragrance sampling and rejuvenating hand massages. Beautiful gift baskets from Guerlain, Paris were presented door prize winners.

As part of the festivities, Carolyn Olive, Mardi Gras Committee Chair of Tallahassee, introduced guests to the unique funding opportunities of the Mardi Gras Gala and explained how a contribution may be designated to benefit a specific charity of the donor's choice. The $1,000 ticket price to the gala and minimum Endowment Contribution will be matched by The Able Trust according to the sliding scale when monies are designated to a participating affiliate agency.

Among the guests were representatives from 12 nonprofit organizations who have committed to supporting the Mardi Gras Gala and will benefit from the funds raised.

The Able Trust also honored the sponsors of the Mardi Gras Gala to date. They are: Cartier, Florida Trend Magazine, Friends of the Florida Council of the Blind, Guerlain, Paris at The Breakers, Kidd&Driscoll Advertising, Palm Beach Illustrated and Peoples First Community Bank.
