President's Message

As a result of an extraordinary year, The Able Trust has seen tremendous achievement in current activities and implemented many new projects that will enhance employment opportunities for Florida citizens with disabilities. Much of this growth is due to the continuation of strong partnerships with our agency friends, the Office of the Governor and the President's Committee on Employment of People with Disabilities.

In 1999 we saw the development of two new youth projects, High School High Tech and the Youth Leadership Forum. These activities will enable us to develop young leaders with disabilities who are career motivated and educated on the paths that have been traveled by disability leaders before them.

Our Business Leadership Network continued to grow under the direction of Eladio Amores of Marriott Corporation. Over 125 Florida businesses are now members of the BLN. We are looking forward to providing them with more resources in the coming year. The Grants Program had another successful year with several exciting new programs being funded throughout the state. Many of these recipients applied for grants for the first time and are now able to offer their communities new employment programs with the support of The Able Trust.

As we approach the new millennium, The Able Trust looks forward to providing better services to our agency friends, including our updated website with an on-line version of our grant booklet and the Florida Grantor. We hope that you have a safe and happy holiday season and look forward to working with you to continue our mission to support Floridians with disabilities.
