(September 16, 2005 – Tallahassee, FL)
Governor Jeb Bush recently appointed Jason E. Havens to the Board of Directors of The Able Trust, a nonprofit foundation serving Floridians with disabilities. The Able Trust is governed by nine gubernatorial directors geographically located throughout Florida, each serving a three-year term and representing a diverse background in business, education, disability advocacy, and the nonprofit sector.
Havens is a member of the law firm of Havens & Miller, P.L.L.C. His private law practice focuses on complex estate and charitable gift planning for individuals and families and on behalf of charitable organizations. Havens is active in the Destin community, serving as a member for The Florida Bar, the American Bar Association, the Christian Legal Society, and various councils and committees on estate planning. He has lectured at a variety of programs on estate planning, including the University of Miami School of Law’s 37th Annual Heckerling Institute on Estate Planning and The 24th Annual Southern California Tax & Estate Planning Forum. He also created Legal Research for State Planners (LREP), a premier Internet site on estate planning.
As a member of The Able Trust Board, Havens will have the opportunity to increase awareness and support for The Able Trust’s mission to provide fair employment opportunities to Floridians with disabilities.
“I am so honored to be appointed by Governor Bush to The Able Trust Board,” said Havens. “This Foundation has been improving employment opportunities for Florida citizens with disabilities for over ten years, and I am grateful that I will have the chance to work with them to continue their mission.”
