What's in it for My Child?
High School/High Tech (HS/HT) is designed for high school students with all types of disabilities between the ages of 14 - 22. The program teaches students to be self-advocates, leaders and communicators. The goal is to provide students the opportunity to explore jobs or postsecondary education leading to technology-related careers. Through a variety of activities, your child will be encouraged to make educated decisions about the future and focus on his or her abilities, not disabilities.
Because so much of our society revolves around technology-related careers, HS/HT is determined to offer your child all the necessary resources to transition after high school to meet the demands of the 21st century workforce. Your child can benefit from the program in so many ways. Through the various activities that HS/HT has to offer, you can watch your child become more independent, productive and motivated.
HS/HT program activities include:
- Corporate Site Visits
- Mentoring
- Job Shadowing
- Guest Speakers
- Internships
- Campus Tours
- Service Learning
HS/HT works to reduce the high school dropout rate of youth with disabilities and increase their participation in post secondary education and employment. HS/HT provides opportunities, activities and support to your child, so that he or she can make informed decisions about the future.
