Miami-Dade BLN Creates Internship Program

The Able Trust awarded the Miami-Dade BLN with a $35,000 grant to offer paid internships to people with disabilities. The BLN will reimburse employers up to 240 hours plus 7.65 percent payroll taxes for internships offered to people with disabilities who have very limited work experience. The hourly rate of reimbursement will vary between $8-12 per hour depending on the intern’s educational experience. Initially, the BLN’s employer members will be the primary internship sites. As the program grows, other employers will be asked to participate. The BLN plans to offer internships to up to 30 people using Able Trust and other BLN funds.
