THE ABLE TRUST HONORS BEST DISABILITY PRACTICES AMONG FLORIDA EMPLOYERS

The Able Trust, also known as the Florida Governor's Alliance for the Employment of Citizens with Disabilities, hosts the annual Ability Awards program to recognize Florida businesses going above and beyond the legal compliances of the Americans with Disabilities Act (ADA) and demonstrating a clear and conscious effort to be a "disability friendly."

The 2007 Ability Awards included The Employer of the Year Awards, which recognize public and private businesses with an exceptional record of hiring persons with disabilities, making reasonable accommodations and demonstrating efforts beyond simple compliance with state or federal ADA laws. This year's recipients include:

• Small Employer of the Year (1-49 employees) - Crystal Bay Enterprise, Inc. in Tampa
• Medium Employer of the Year (50-99 employees) - Regal Cinema Park Place Stadium 16 in Pinellas Park
• Large Employer of the Year (100+ employees) - Blue Cross and Blue Shield of Florida
