Florida motorcyclists now have the chance to show their colors and show they care wherever they ride.
Governor Jeb Bush’s signature on a bill passed by the 2003 legislature creates Florida’s first specialty license tag for motorcycles.
Studies show that motorcycle accident injuries are becoming more serious and more expensive to treat. The new specialty motorcycle license plate - the Bikers Care tag – will help raise thousands of dollars to prevent blindness and provide support for Floridians with disabilities.
The Able Trust, a foundation that provides employment support for people with disabilities, will distribute the funds to three statewide organizations designated by the legislature. The Brain & Spinal Cord Injury Program, the Centers for Independent Living, Personal Care Attendant Program, Blind Services Foundation of Florida and Prevent Blindness Florida will all benefit from the Bikers Care tag.
"It’s estimated this tag could generate hundreds of thousands of dollars each year. We’re excited about this opportunity to prevent blindness as well as expand support services for Florida’s 3 million citizens with disabilities," said Sharon Griffith, President of The Able Trust.

The red, white and blue Bikers Care tag costs an extra $20 dollars each year and is now available. To locate the Department of Motor Vehicles office nearest you, please click here.
