Since 1997, The Able Trust has been designated by Governor's Executive Order as the Florida Governor's Alliance for the Employment of Citizens with Disabilities. Under this designation, the Trust is responsible for expanding its role to increase the employment of Floridians with disabilities, promoting awareness of their abilities, serving as liaison to the Office of Disability Employment Policy and recommending policies to the Governor.
As the Florida Governor’s Alliance, The Able Trust serves as a member of the National Association of Governors’ Committees on People with Disabilities (NAGC), a collective association of the Governors’ Committees in the states and territories of the United States. The purpose of NAGC is to provide a national organizational forum to facilitate a unified approach to important policy and program issues on disability. Working at the community, state and national levels, it is a voluntary partnership of business, government, education, labor and people with disabilities.
